Default Account hacked

Somehow, today my Account got hacked...

I've never used the mail I used for my account elsewhere, nor did I use this password elsewhere...
I also never posted any of my char-names and I've used Kaspersky virtual keyboard to enter my password so I will not get bitten by a keylogger...

I don't want to whine or something, I just want to know what it could be, so I can fix it, so it doesn't happen again =(

I stopped using Kaspersky but missed the virtual keyboard, when I looked for a replacement, I found out some keylogger types use screen captures to see what you click on the virtual keyboard

Ps. If you have dloaded a keygen for other software they usually get flagged by antivirus as trojans etc. Although people will tell you it's it's a false positive and to ignore, I'm not so sure. Not a dloader myself but know people that do and they just accept everthing, the fools

Safest bet is re-install Windows, if in doubt (ps. format any partitions if on the same drive too, I got nabbed by a virus that lurked on my D drive that kept hopping back over to C after I formatted, /doh)

Hmm I checked with a trial account, my characters still exist, and noone is online... Any chance that Guild Wars somehow just doesn't recognize my accountname/password or something?

I did contact it naturally, it was the first thing I did...
Just Sunday, so they don't work, so I'm just asking here, if it is possible that they somehow can't process my data... Oo

If you've supplied them with enough data, keys, scans etc to prove the account is truly yours - chances are you'll have your account back within a couple of days.

Human error is always a possibility ---> CAPS LOCK, misspelling password, using the wrong password, a typo when entering the email address, using the wrong email address.

Also, on the login screen there is a checkbox that saves your username and character name so that you don't have to retype it each time you login. Was this box checked or unchecked prior to your problem? I ask because that information gets stored somewhere on your hard drive. It is considered less secure than typing the info each time you login.

If anyone else on the face of the earth has your login info (buddy, girlfriend, boyfriend, little brother, etc) you are less secure than you should be. Even the people you trust can be careless.

If you DID get hacked, only the support team can help you. Good luck.

It was checked, and I checked everything 100 times, no way I misstyped anything...
Noone has my login-infos.
I suppose I got hacked, well I just don't know how >.<

Unless you caught a keylogger in some way then only someone you know might have done that. A possibility is also that they took your pass and email if you played from an internet cafe. Did you try to send the new password to your email?

This happened to me quite awhile ago after one of the updates and I thought i was hacked, if you haven't already done so I would attempt to reset your password.

I would remain strong and wouldn't worry about it.

I can't reset my password because my Guild Wars Account is linked to my NCsoft Account, of which I either forgot the password or which got hacked too...
I tried to reset the password there, but it asks me 2 security questions, which I never ever filled out Oo
And when I leave them blank it tells me the answer is wrong and I need at least 3 characters...

Sounds like your NCSoft account got jacked, and the person went ahead and changed your GW password within NCSoft, (yes, it requires no knowledge of the old GW password when doing this [insert sad face]).

If you got hacked from your NCSoft account and haven't even been using it, Then I'm worried, very very worried.

Hmm but maybe it means they don't know my Guild Wars Char name and I'm still safe =/

And why are you worried if they hacked me from my NCSoft account?
Yeah, I have not really been using it, but I think I would remember the password, so I think I really got hacked =(

Haven't heard anything from support yet, kinda sucks how slow they work =(

Think about it. You haven't been using it, but it gets hacked? How in the world would that happen? Keylogger (for something that most likely hasn't been logged onto) or possibly still a problem or worm hole allowing people to hack random accounts.

I haven't logged into my NCSoft account for a very long time... I have no clue how they could acquire the password...

Well the support asked me for some data like 12 hours ago and still no reply...

Ok, got my account back, most of the valuable things got stolen, but nevertheless I'm happy the chars didn't get deleted.
